Here is a review of the book.... For centuries, people of the western world have typically avoided thinking of the mind-body-spirit connection as something worth individually exploring, preferring to leave such matters to science and religion. The resulting cultural apathy and, all too often—ignorance—towards such topics have proven pervasive and viral: we still tend to fear that which we do not understand. Meditation is one of those things: a pop-culture and “contemporary religious” danger word that sparks talks of new-age sacrilege and muffled laughter. We have been wrong. What Sifu Furr accomplishes within this text is prove that what most think of as “new” and “mystical”—is in reality as ancient and practical as the wheel. What eastern philosophy and religion has taught for millennia—and our own western sages taught our ancestors—is that the mind-body-spirit connection made manifest in mediation is both sacred and natural—and evokes from within us the first whisperings of universal interconnectedness. Meditation is as versatile as it is natural, working with our bodies and minds to achieve desired results based on what we innately know we need—and not on what we selfishly desire. This text is perfect for the beginner who wishes to better know his or her self and take control of their own emotions—and it is a practical tool for those of us skilled at self-actualization, but still finding ourselves looking for more. Jake What others have said about Kung-fu and Master Furr! "Exercise is so boring, but Kung-fu engages me mentally as well as physically. You're exercising, but you're so caught up in learning that you don't even notice it." "I was in the best shape of my life when I got my black belt." "Taking martial arts teaches our kids to have self reliance, and to be self sufficient." "I thought all martial arts was the same, until now." "It is amazing how much better I feel after just a few classes." "I never realized just how much my son was benefiting from his kung-fu classes until I got his report card! Now that he can focus better and stay on task, his grades are improving."
"The level of professionalism and quality of instruction is outstanding?
"We can't help but tell you how lucky we are to have our son and daughter involved with your school. Thank you for doing all that you do for our kids."
"In today's world, it is good to know that there are things like your school, and it is available for our kids."
"You guys have an outstanding program."
"Taking martial arts teaches our kids to have self reliance and to be self sufficient."
"Your school was the deciding factor in our family moving to this area."
"I can tell my kid 50 times to do something, but you guys say it once and it becomes a law or something. WOW... now that is worth the price of membership in itself."
"Being divorced is hard, but having you and your school as a positive role model for my son really helps."
"Thank you for giving our daughter the opportunities you do, we are very grateful, it means so much"
"Our son is so excited about being asked to be on your demo team."
"Our doctor recommended your school. He said that martial arts training will help our son overcome some of his ADHD challenges."
"When I found your school and you guys, I struck gold!" __________________________ ____________________________________ “I started taking Kung Fu because my kids were taking it, and the school added family classes. I quickly became hooked! I started studying Kung Fu and Tai Chi at age 36 and continued for almost ten years. I went from not being able to do a single push-up to being able to do 60 full-body push-ups. The training helped my muscle tone, my balance, the way I carried myself when I walked. The things I learned in Kung Fu helped more than just physically, though. My sense of self-confidence went up ten-fold – something that served me immensely in dealing with my ex-husband, my various bosses at work, and other situations. I stopped putting up with my ex’s bullying. I believed in myself; if I could do Kung Fu, I could do anything! I was promoted at work several times, and I give partial credit to how I changed through my study of martial arts. Today I am learning a yoga practice, as there is no dojo convenient to where I live, but I carry my “Si-Lum Attitude” with me every day!” Denise-- Lenoir, NC
